ANTIPOLO – The Nieto twins were back in uniform for Ateneo de Manila University on Sunday at the Ynares Center here.
Mike and Matt combined for eight points and three rebounds to help the Blue Eagles get back at their first round tormentors in Adamson University.
That was the twins’ first game back after a four-game absence due to dengue.
While Matt had just revealed that surgery on his left pinky also kept him sidelined, Mike said that there was also another thing that made him miss a month of action. “Siyempre, kambal kami so may connection talaga,” he started out saying, clearly kidding with reporters.
He then turned serious and continued, “A day after na-confine si Matt, na-confirm na dengue, ako naman sumunod. Before naman ng dengue, na-sprain ako sa practice. Siya, bali yung daliri tsaka dengue. Ako, left foot sprain tsaka dengue.”
And so, it looks like the Nieto twins just do anything and everything together.
That also goes for getting back in game shape. “It’s great to be back lalo na sa amin ni Matt na four games na ‘di nakalaro, pero as you can see, wala pa kami sa timing kasi ilang weeks din kaming ‘di naka-practice. Nung Wednesday lang kami naka-live practice ni Matt,” Mike shared.
He then continued, “At least, darating din yan. Extra work lang kami ni Matt this week kasi may one week naman kami mag-prepare (for La Salle).”
