UAAP: The job is far from finished for playoff-bound Adamson
Adamson will not be satisfied with just a Final Four berth

Adamson University is into the playoffs of the UAAP Season 81 Men’s Basketball Tournament.

This is the third year in a row that they will be playing past the elimination round.

And this is the first time that they have made the Final Four for three straight seasons.

Still, that in itself is no longer that much of an achievement for the Soaring Falcons. “Well, of course, we are happy to reach the Final Four, but we’ve been doing that for the last two years. Hopefully, we can improve our finish this year,” head coach Franz Pumaren told reporters after they clinched a Final Four berth on Wednesday.

Breakout star Sean Manganti could only agree. As he put it, “It feels good, but we’ve been doing it twice. There’s a higher goal in place.”

What exactly is that goal? “Our goal is the Finals. We want to get there already and we just want to upset Ateneo,” he said, actually predicting that the defending champion Blue Eagles will be back in the championship round.

In the last two years, Adamson made the Final Four only to be booted out in just one game – both times at the hands of De La Salle University.

The Soaring Falcons are nothing but confident that would not be the case this year. “We’re a way better team than last year. That’s a given already,” he said.

He was quick to add, though, “But we still have some lapses and we’re not too consistent. I guess we’re still in the process of fixing it right now.”
