CJ Cansino will only get to play 13 games in his first year in the UAAP Seniors
CJ Cansino’s super rookie season has come to a close – even though University of Sto. Tomas still has one game to go in the UAAP 81 Men’s Basketball Tournament.
“Kahit anong resulta ng MRI, ‘di namin papalaruin yung bata,” head coach Aldin Ayo told reporters after the Growling Tigers fell to the University of the Philippines on Saturday. “He had a good season. We’ll make sure that he’ll be ready for next year.”
Cansino exited the game in the middle of the second quarter due to an apparent left knee injury.
Post-game, coach Aldin said there is no initial diagnosis on the injury of their super rookie. “Mamayang gabi pa malalaman. Mag-MRI pa muna siya,” he said.
What’s certain, though, is that Cansino will not be suited up when UST closes out its campaign in Season 81 up against Ateneo de Manila University on Wednesday.
The good news is that the fiery mentor saw just enough fight from those who stepped up for their fallen teammate. “Sinubukan ni Toby Agustin, sinubukan ni Josh Marcos, they tried their best. Kahit ganito resulta, I’m proud of them because they fought hard,” he said.
