Arvin Tolentino and the rest of FEU came through in a must-win game.

Far Eastern University was not going down without a fight in the 81st Season of the UAAP Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Figuring in a must-win situation, the Tamaraws stampeded to a 14-0 start and never looked back in trampling shorthanded Adamson University, 82-56, on Sunday at the MOA Arena.

Needing to win the game in order to stay alive, head coach Olsen Racela’s wards were on-point from the get-go. “Malaking bagay ‘tong game na ito because buhay pa kami,” he said post-game.

Wendell Comboy was the top scorer with 11 points while Arvin Tolentino and Hubert Cani also added 10 markers, respectively.

FEU also had four players, however, who contributed somewhere between eight and six points.

With that, they never trailed and were never threatened en route to improving their record to 8-6 – all even with De La Salle University. “Now, we have an opportunity. We have one more game to play at nabigyan kami ng biyaya,” coach Olsen said.

The Tamaraws and the Green Archers now turn their attention to a knockout bout on Wednesday still at the same venue that would determine the fourth-seed in the Final Four.

On the other hand, the Soaring Falcons dropped to 10-4. They remain the second-seed, though, and now go back to the drawing board to prepare for third-seed University of the Philippines.

Of course, they didn’t help themselves in this one in resting top guns Jerrick Ahanmisi and Sean Manganti in this one.
