De La Salle-Zobel put a dent on five-peat-seeking National University's record and secured at least a playoff for the last Final Four twice-to-beat incentive.
De La Salle-Zobel dealt defending girls champion National University its first loss with a stunning 25-18, 25-12, 18-25, 25-20 victory Wednesday in the UAAP Season 81 high school volleyball tournament at the Blue Eagle Gym.
Alleiah Malaluan was sensational for the Junior Lady Spikers with 20 points, including seven service aces, eight receptions and seven digs.
Justine Nazareno also had seven aces to finish with 10 hits for De La Salle-Zobel, which improved to 8-2 and assured itself of a playoff for the twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four.
Faith Nisperos led the Bullpups with 14 points.
Despite the loss, NU has already assured of a twice-to-beat semifinals incentive.
Meanwhile, Kate Santiago had 12 markers as Adamson University secured the third semfinals berth with a 28-26, 28-26, 25-13 conquest UP Integrated School.
The Junior Lady Falcons now have a 7-3 card, still trailing the Junior Lady Spikers by a game in the race for the No. 2 seed in the Final Four.
University of Santo Tomas moved closer in advancing to the next round with a 25-21, 25-14, 25-23 win over University of the East.
Imee Hernandez led the way for the Junior Tigresses with 10 points.
With a 6-4 slate, UST has opened a two-game cushion over fifth-running Far Eastern University-Diliman.
