Alvin Pasaol wants nothing more than to play his fourth and final year for UE
The next chapter of Alvin Pasaol’s career will still be set in University of the East.
Pasaol revealed on Friday that he plans to use up his fourth and final playing year as a Red Warrior. “Mag-stay ako sa UE,” he said.
The development was first broken by CNN Philippines.
The burly forward posted per game counts of 24.4 points, 11.0 rebounds, 1.9 steals, and 1.0 assists in his third year in Recto. There, he made the Mythical Team for the second straight season.
His highest of highlights remains the 49-point masterpiece he put on in a losing effort to De La Salle University a season ago.
Now, Pasaol hope to continue representing the red and white. As he put it, “Napagdesisyunan ko sa sarili ko lang na gusto ko pa maglaro para sa UE.”
However, sources close to the squad said that beginning next year, everybody would have to try out anew to make the lineup - that includes their 23-year-old scoring machine. “Nothing is sure,” one of the sources said.
The Red Warriors head into the next season with higher hopes as, by then, the likes of foreign student-athlete Adama Diakhite, former Ateneo de Manila University forward, John Apacible, and Filipino-Kiwi Richie Rodgers would have completed their residencies.
Another source privy to the workings of the team also said that they intend to scour the high school ranks and compete for the services of the most promising prospects there.
