UAAP 81 Finals By The Numbers: This is Atin!
The champion Blue Eagles showed why they are truly the team to beat Saturday, outclassing the UP Fighting Maroons to take an early 1-0 lead in the UAAP Season 81 men's basketball Finals.

Ateneo stans are one win away from declaring "This is Atin."

The champion Blue Eagles showed why they are truly the team to beat Saturday, outclassing the UP Fighting Maroons to take an early 1-0 lead in the UAAP Season 81 men's basketball Finals.

Now, Ateneo is on the verge of establishing its latest UAAP dynasty. But can the Maroons show some fight and force a decider?

Before all of that, a quick By the Numbers from Game 1 of Battle of Katipunan.

2

Number of Ateneo players it took to outscore UP's entire starting five.

Matt Nieto and Thirdy Ravena dominated for the Blue Eagles in Game 1, combining for 48 big points, 14 more than the Maroons' opening group.

27

Total points for Matt Nieto, his UAAP career-high.

Matty Ice was on fire in Game 1, connecting on four triples to lead the Ateneo offense. Thirdy for his part, added 21 as the Blue Eagles' 1-2 combo led the champs to a 1-0 lead in the Finals.

5

Total points for Paul Desiderio in Game 1 of the UAAP Finals.

Safe to say, that's not quite enough and UP will need some more fight from its heart and soul in order to score another monumental upset.

21,608

Total number of fans at the MOA Arena for Game 1 of the UAAP Finals.

Katipunan came through in this one and Game 2 should be rocking as well. See you all on Wednesday.

14

Total wins for the Blue Eagles for this season (including Game 1) when leading after three quarters. They have zero losses.

Simply put, Ateneo is a team that knows how to close out opponents and the Maroons will have to do a better job than just playing catch up in order to take down the champs.
