Ateneo all set to close out UP, claim back-to-back titles
If it re-asserts its mastery over UP in Game 2 of the UAAP 81 Finals, Ateneo will score back-to-back championships

Game on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum

3:30 PM -  UP vs Ateneo

UAAP 81 Men’s Basketball Tournament MVP Bright Akhuetie is a game-time decision for the University of the Philippines in Game 2 of the Finals.

Whether or not he will be there, though, Ateneo de Manila University is nothing but determined to finish off what it has started against the Fighting Maroons on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum.

The full-strength Blue Eagles go for the jugular even as State U goes all out, with or without Akhuetie, to live to fight another day starting at 3:30 PM. As always, all of the action will be on S+A, S+A HD, livestream, and iWant.ph.

Ateneo is one win away from defending its championship and going back-to-back thanks to a convincing 88-79 victory last Saturday. All of Thirdy Ravena, Matt Nieto, and Ange Kouame vow to keep at it and the rest of the team are only certain to follow suit.

Even so, UP isn’t quitting especially with team captain Paul Desiderio determined to extend his collegiate career just a little longer. It is yet to be determined if their Nigerian powerhouse could be able to play through his hyperextended left knee, but what is sure is that Juan Gomez de Liano and company would go down swinging.

Before tip-off, Akhuetie’s Season MVP and Juan GDL’s Mythical selection would be formalized in the league’s ceremony for individual awards.

Meanwhile, four-time Women’s champion National University Lady Bulldogs have their sights set on a fifth title in a row at the expense of the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws at 11:00 AM.
