There was not going to be another shock loss for Far Eastern University-Diliman in the UAAP 81 Juniors Basketball Tournament – Xyrus Torres and RJ Abarrientos made sure of that.

Senior forward Torres dropped a career-high 27 points and graduating guard Abarrientos made his presence felt everywhere else as the Baby Tamaraws charged right through the University of the Philippines Integrated School, 102-72, on Wednesday at the Blue Eagle Gym in Quezon City.

Torres waxed hot from the get-go and wound up with a total of six triples while Abarrientos contributed 15 points, six assists, and four rebounds.

This, after the former just scored seven points and the latter only had 11 markers as FEU-Diliman bowed to De La Salle Zobel four days ago.

Now, however, the two were only backstopped by Bryan Sajonia who had 14 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals as they improved to 4-2.

On the other hand, the Junuor Maroons remained winless in six games despite the best efforts of Allen Torres who pounded in 23 points and nine rebounds..

Meanwhile, University of Sto. Tomas stopped DLSZ dead in its tracks via a 63-55 victory.

Promising prospect Mark Nonoy kept opening eyes with 19 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists in this one. Bismarck Lina also added his own 10-marker, 12-board double-double  in the Tiger Cubs’ third win in six games.

Now tied with them in the standings are the Junior Archers who were paced by Lance Jomalesa who had 13 points and 12 rebounds.
