UAAP: Who has 2 championships in 1 year? Ateneo's SJ Belangel

In just one calendar year, SJ Belangel has turned himself into a two-division champion
Only a few people would ever be able to call themselves as champions.
In the UAAP alone, getting through a season and getting past seven other teams is already a tall task.
In the case of SJ Belangel, however, not only could he call himself a champion, he could actually call himself a two-time champion.
And he did that, in just his rookie season for Ateneo de Manila University.
That was exactly how he was introduced in the school’s annual bonfire of champions last Saturday at its Katipunan campus.
Then, the program host said that Belangel was the first-ever player to win a title in both the Juniors and Seniors divisions in one calendar year.
It is yet to be determined if that claim is correct, but the fact of the matter is, in the span of nine months, the 6-foot playmaker is a two-division champion.
Of course, he was the court general for the Blue Eaglets who reclaimed the throne in the UAAP 80 Juniors last March
Just months later in December, he then played a part in the back-to-back championships for the Blue Eagles in the UAAP 81 Seniors.
For that, Belangel is nothing but grateful. As he put it, “Siyempre, sobrang saya. Ngayon ko lang din nalaman na ako yung unang player na nag-dalawang champion sa isang year. Thankful lang ako sa lahat for the opportunity.”
But wait… Does this mean the softspoken Bacolod native is actually Ateneo’s lucky charm?
Never one to comment on that, he just said, through chuckles, “’Di ko lang po alam. Paghihirapan na lang po namin.”
