UAAP: UST, this is how your future looks like

CJ Cansino and Mark Nonoy are bound to make an electric pairing for UST
Mark Nonoy has now tallied three triple-doubles in the UAAP 81 Juniors Basketball Tournament.
Collecting 30 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists to go along with three steals on Sunday, the rookie sensation led University of Sto. Tomas back into the thick of things of the playoff race.
With that, the 5-5 Tiger Cubs are breathing down the necks of fourth-running and 6-4 Adamson High School.
Yes, the upstarts from Espana remain very much in contention alongside the four heavyweights of the tournament.
That’s all because of Nonoy, an end-to-end playmaker who now has three triple-doubles to his name, but is an upstart himself, nonetheless.
And if there’s one player who would know just how impressive all of that is, it would be UST’s previous end-to-end playmaker who led his team to the playoffs. “Para sa akin, ‘di biro yung talent ni Nonoy. Grabe, iba yung triple-double sa Juniors,” CJ Cansino said.
Before making an immediate impact as a rookie for the Growling Tigers in the Seniors, Cansino carried the Tiger Cubs back into the Final Four and then claimed the Season MVP.
Cansino himself has also tallied a triple-double and so, knows full well how tall of a task it is.
Even more so for a point guard who stands at 5-foot-8 like Nonoy. “Iba talaga yung sipag niya sa court. Nakaka-double-digit rebound siya sa ganung height? Grabe lang talaga,” Cansino said.
That is exactly why Cansino is only looking forward to teaming up Nonoy when the latter finally joins the former for UST’s Seniors squad later in the year. As he put it, “Sobrang special nun para sa UST kung pareho na kaming nandun dahil para sa akin, malaking tulong talaga ang mabibigay niya sa amin.”
For his part, Nonoy could do nothing but share the same sentiment. “Sobrang excited ko kasi MVP yung magiging kakampi ko e. Tulad niya, gusto ko lang din talagang makatulong para sa UST,” he said.
The good news for the Growling Tigers and their faithful is that, even now, Cansino and Nonoy are already building up a bond. “Lagi po niya akong pinapaalalahanan na unang-una depensa tapos i-involve yung teammates ko bago sarili ko. Isa rin po siya sa inspirasyon ko sa paglalaro,” the latter said.
Still, the two only acknowledge that while the Growling Tigers are all set to have two triple-doubling talents, getting to the promised land is easier said than done. “Para sa akin, hindi complement na kami ni Nonoy ang future ng UST, kundi isnag challenge para mas mag-work kami,” Cansino said.
He then continued, “Knowing Nonoy, pareho kami ng laro na mahilig sa transition so I hope na mag-jel talaga kami sa team.”
