This season hindi ako makapaglaro -- Risa Sato
National University veteran Risa Sato confirmed Saturday that she will skip UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament because of academic problems.
“This season hindi ako makapaglaro,” Sato told reporters after the Premier Volleyball League All-Star Game at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The middle blocker said that she had a couple of subject deficiencies in her Sports and Wellness Management course that prevented her from playing in her third year with the Lady Bulldogs.
“Mahirap. Siyempre malungkot ako kasi sa team (ako) pinakamatanda, senior ako kasi need talaga na push ko ‘yung mga teammates,” said Sato, who plays for Creamline in the PVL.
She already accepted her fate but vowed to return next season.
“Anyway, ‘yun nga po so bawi ako,” she said. “Kayang-kaya, (sa) Season 82 bawi ako doon.”
Aside from Sato, NU will also miss the services of Roma Doromal, Jorelle Singh and Jasmine Nabor this season. The Lady Bulldogs are on a rebuilding stage after the departure of scoring leader 6-foot-5 Jaja Santiago, Aiko Urdas and libero Gayle Valdez.
Making their return for the Norman Miguel-mentored squad are Roselyn Doria, Joni Chavez and Audrey Paran while newbies Ivy Lacsina, Joyme Cagande, Elaine Cloza, Jennifer Nierva, Princess Robles, Gelina Luceno, Kly Orillaneda and Tonette Landicho will try to help hold the fort for the Lady Bulldogs.
