Adamson University beat University of Sto. Tomas in five sets to open its campaign in the UAAP Season 81 men's volleyball tournament.
Skipper Paolo Pablico poured 23 points to lead Adamson University to a morale-boosting opening day win by outlasting University of Sto. Tomas, 33-31, 23-25, 16-25, 25-15, 16-14, Sunday in the UAAP Season 81 men’s volleyball tournament at the MOA Arena.
Pablico started his last playing year with 21 kills to help the Falcons exact revenge on the same team that denied them a Final Four berth last year in a playoff for the no. 4 spot.
“Maganda nga po kasi last year nga po sila 'yung naglaglag sa amin. Maganda motivation sa amin na makuha 'yung game against sa kanila,” said Pablico.
Leo Miranda had 13 points while Mark Alvarez and George Labang Jr. added nine and eight markers, respectively, for Adamson.
The Tigers gave away 46 points off their errors.
Joshua Umandal scored 22 points while Manuel Medina added 16 markers for the Espana-based squad. Jaron Requinton and Jayvee Sumagaysay finished with eight each for UST.
