Ateneo makes football season debut, FEU eyes 9th jrs. crown
Jarvey Gayoso and the Ateneo Blue Eagles make their season debut against University of the East on Thursday

Ateneo de Manila University makes their season debut when they take on University of the East in the UAAP Season 81 Men's Football Tournament, Thursday at the Moro Lorenzo Football Field inside the Ateneo de Manila University campus.

Considered as one of the top contenders this season the Blue Eagles, who captured the men's title just two years ago, make their highly-anticipated return to the pitch as they look to reclaim the title.

The Blue Eagles will once again be led by star striker Jarvey Gayoso as well as Julian Roxas, Jeremiah Rocha, and Rupert Baña. First up for the Blue Eagles will be a Red Warriors team looking to bounce back.

UE didn't quite get off to the start that they wanted after suffering an opening-day loss to Far Eastern University, as the Tamaraws stunned the Red Warriors, 4-1.

UE rued a number of missed chances against FEU, and they will look to correct those errors as they try to get their first win at the expense of Ateneo.

Ateneo and UE battle at 2:00 PM.

In the morning matchup, University of Santo Tomas will look to keep their momentum going as they take on Adamson University.

The Growling Tigers wasted no time in flexing their might, as the Season 80 runners-up dismantled new-look De La Salle University to the tune of 3-1, behind goals by veterans Juan Villanueva, Conrado Dimacali, and promising rookie Glen Ramos.

Speaking of promising, the Soaring Falcons got off to a good start in Season 81 after holding National University to a 1-1 draw and immediately get on the board with one point. New Adamson head coach Arvin Soliman is looking to finally get the Soaring Falcons off the ground, and UST will prove to be an early season test.

UST and Adamson battle at 9:00 AM.

In the final match of the afternoon, the FEU Baby Tamaraws look to continue their run of dominance over the juniors football landscape when they target their remarkable ninth-straight crown against the NU Bullpups, who are targeting their first ever football crown.

FEU and NU have stood toe-to-toe this season, with their first two eliminations meetings both ending in scoreless stalemates.

With everything on the line, their third matchup will guarantee a clear winner.

FEU and NU kick off at 3:00 PM.
