University of Sto. Tomas seeks its second straight win.

University of Sto. Tomas returns to action on Wednesday to hunt for its second straight win and a tight hold of the early lead against Ateneo de Manila University in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Opening serve is at 2:00 p.m. and will air on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183, iWant and via livestream.

The Tigresses opened their campaign with a narrow escape over Adamson University, 25-21, 25-21, 24-26, 24-26, 15-6, on Sunday.

UST head coach Kungfu Reyes will again pin his hopes on veteran Sisi Rondina, rookie Eya Laure, who scored 17 points her debut, Fil-Italian Milena Alessandrini and rookie Kecelyn Galdones.

The Lady Eagles, on the other hand, started on a sour note after absorbing a 14-25, 17-25, 25-16, 19-25, defeat at the hands of archrival De La Salle University Sunday.

Kat Tolentino was the only Ateneo player in double figures in the said match that saw the Lady Eagles throw away 32 points off their errors while allowing DLSU to land 15 aces.

Ateneo coach Oliver Almadro hopes to see his wards bounce back from a bad start especially rookie Vanessa Gandler, who was limited to only one point in her baptism of fire.
