UAAP: It ain't over 'til it's over for Blue Eaglets vs Bullpups

Ateneo is one loss away from losing its championship - but at the same time, is still two wins away from going back-to-back
Ateneo de Manila High School was doing better in its third matchup against Nazareth School of National University in the UAAP 81 Juniors Basketball Tournament.
That meeting last Wednesday just so happened to be Game 1 of the best-of-three Finals – and after two and a half quarters, the defending champions were ahead.
Only, the Bullpups went on a 25-11 run bridging the third and fourth periods and that proved to be the pivotal push that boosted them to the win.
Rather than lamenting what could have been, though, Blue Eaglets mentor Reggie Varilla said they can only be better. “(NU) hit some big shots and suddenly, we were down big. From that point on, nalito siguro yung team namin, this young team we have, but it’s part of the learning experience. My trust and confidence with the boys are still the same,” he told reporters.
And even though they are now in a must-win situation, the first-year head coach remains upbeat about their chances of going back-to-back. Asked if NU has a mental edge as it is now up 3-0 in the season series, he answered, “We’re not really worried about that. We need two more wins to be champions, ganun pa rin naman.”
He then continued, “Lamang lang sila, 1-0.”
Floor leader Forthsky Padrigao can only agree with coach Reggie. “Okay pa rin kami. Tiwala pa rin ako, tiwala pa rin kami sa isa’t-isa,” he said.
