UAAP 81 Football: Adu comes from behind to hold UST to draw
Adamson authored another come-from-behind effort to hold University of Santo Tomas to a 1-1 draw in the UAAP Season 81 Men's Football Tournament

Adamson University notched another come-from-behind effort to hold Season 80 runners-up University of Santo Tomas to a 1-1 draw in the UAAP Season 81 Men's Football Tournament, Thursday morning at the Moro Lorenzo Football Field inside the Ateneo de Manila University campus in Katipunan.

Defense was the star of the match for the Soaring Falcons, as they clamped down on the usually-potent UST offense, holding the Growling Tigers to a 0-0 draw at halftime. The España-based side had a pair of golden opportunities to score late in the first half, but Adamson skipper and keeper Carl Viray and the Soaring Falcons' defense stood tough and prevented a conversion.

Coming from a 3-1 drubbing of De La Salle University just last Sunday, the Growling Tigers would not be kept away from the scoreboard for long, as they eventually found the back of the net thanks to a conversion from striker Steven Anotado in the 54th minute.

Three minutes later, Adamson answered back courtesy of an equalizer from Allen Lozano.

UST pushed the pace for much of the match's remainder as they tried to breach the Adamson defensive line.

The Soaring Falcons again stood their ground and denied the Growling Tigers a chance at breaking the deadlock.

"[Malaking bagay ito], kasi from this game, nag-gain kami ng experience, and yung mga bata, talagang tumaas yung confidence," said new Adamson head coach Arvin Soliman. "Against UST, malakas 'tong team na to, pinag-hirapan namin 'to, nag-adjust kami, andun kami against La Salle, we read their game, and buti na lang nakuha namin."

Under the guidane of Soliman, Adamson is off to their best start since joining the UAAP Men's Football Tournament back in UAAP Season 77, with two draws and two points in their first two matches.

"Sobrang saya, pero siyempre hindi din naman sa akin 'to, hindi lang ako eh, buong team, my Assistant Coach na si Coach Louie, and also buong players, lahat ng players. Lahat sila nagiging cooperative, so talagang malaking tulong yung players din sa kung paano namin dinala yung sistema, kung paano nila na-adapt, and kung paano sila naki-cooperate sa amin.

UST meanwhile moves to one win and one draw for four points and solo lead so far in the season.
