No Bullpups in UAAP 81 Mythical Team

There are no individual standouts from NU because the Bullpups, as a team, have stood out head and shoulders above the rest of the competition
Nazareth School of National University is one win away from winning it all in the UAAP 81 Juniors Basketball Tournament.
The Bullpups have done nothing but live up to their preseason expectations as title favorites thanks to their fully loaded lineup that includes Batang Gilas players Gerry Abadiano, Terrence Fortea, and Carl Tamayo as well as talented youngsters such as Harold Alarcon, Ernest Felicilda, Cyril Gonzales, and Kevin Quiambao.
Weaponizing that depth to the fullest, NU has only lost once in the 16 games total they have played.
There is one thing they won’t be winning, however, and that is any individual award.
Ateneo de Manila High School’s Kai Sotto ran away with the MVP while another Blue Eaglet in Forthsky Padrigao as well as University of Sto. Tomas teammates Mark Nonoy and Bismarck Lina, Far Eastern University-Diliman’s RJ Abarrientos, and Adamson High School’s Joem Sabandal rounded out the Mythical Team.
Actually, Abadiano wound up sixth in terms of Statistical Points (SPs), but due to a house rule that the Mythical Team should have one center, two forwards, and two guards, he was left out.
In that light, Sotto was the center, Nonoy and Padrigao were the guards, Abarrientos was deemed as a forward, and Lina was raised to the Mythical Team as the other forward.
Ever the leader, though, Abadiano made it clear that individual awards are far from their minds.
Rather, the Bullpups’ team captain hammered home the point that they are here to win their school’s fourth championship in the last eight years. “Championship po talaga gusto namin,” he said.
