Padrigao missed six games in the first round after suffering and recovering from appendicitis but managed to bounce back in the second round.
Ateneo Blue Eaglets guard Forthsky Padrigao will use an incomplete UAAP Season 81 juniors' basketball tournament as motivation to stay the course in Season 82.
Padrigao missed six games in the first round after suffering and recovering from appendicitis, but managed to bounce back in the second round.
Overall, he played in eight games in the eliminations, he was able to average 10.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 6.4 assists, and 2.3 steals in 25.6 minutes of action.
His stats were enough to earn him a spot in this year's Mythical Five, though it became a point of contention since he only played over a half of the season.
"Lahat naman kami naghirap para makarating kung nasaan kami. Deserve naman namin so kung yun naging desisyon, so be it," said the guard.
"Siguro gagamitin ko siya as motivation come season 82 kasi nga kumbaga di full season ang nalaro ko this season. So I’m looking forward to Season 82 na sana 14 games tuloy tuloy," Padrigao added,
In his first season with the Blue Eaglets, he was able to showcase his talent more, as his team went to the Finals once more, but fell short in two games against the NU Bullpups.
There may be sadness in the loss, but more of acceptance as he ends the season in a bittersweet way.
"Sarap lang sa feeling na nakaabot ng finals sa rookie year ko sa ateneo. Talagang ganoon. Binigay namin yung best namin, but then siguro baka para sa kanila yung championship," he told reporters.
