University of the East hopes to barge in the win column in a clash with National University.
University of the East will have a huge advantage in experience and manpower when the Lady Warriors meet a limping National University side Saturday in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Game time is at 2:00 p.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183, iWant and via livestream.
The Lady Warriors dropped their opening day match but not after pushing pre-season favorite University of the Philippines to five sets, 12-25, 25-22, 25-23, 19-25, 15-12, last week.
With a decent showing to start the season, the Lady Warriors are heavily favored to end a 12-game head-to-head losing slump against the rookie-laden Lady Bulldogs, who will miss the services of injured setter Joyme Cagande.
NU is down to only 10 players after losing the three-time UAAP girls volleyball Best Setter to a left knee injury in the Lady Bulldogs’ 25-22, 19-25, 19-25, 12-25, loss last week against Far Eastern University.
Cagande, who was replaced by rookie Klymince Orillaneda during the game, could miss the whole tournament after reports of a possible ACL tear.
NU will pin its hopes on freshmen Ivy Lacsina, Princess Robles and veteran Audrey Paran and Roselyn Doria against the seasoned UE players led by Judith Abil, Me-Anne Menrez, Seth Rodriguez and prized libero Kath Arado.
