University of Santo Tomas and Far Eastern University look to separate themselves from the pack as they target their second wins in the UAAP Season 81 Men's Football Tournament, Sunday at the FEU-FERN Football Field in Diliman, Quezon City.
Following a suprising draw against Adamson University last Thursday, Season 80 runners-up UST are hungry to get back on track and return to the win column. Currently at the top of the standings with four points on one win and one draw, the Growling Tigers look to claim their second win at the expense of the National University Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs share a similar result with UST after having been on the opposite end of an Adamson comeback, leading to a 1-1 draw on opening day. Now, NU looks to notch their first win of the season and they hope to do it against a top contender in the Growling Tigers.
UST and NU face off at 3:00 PM.
Following a forgettable Season 80 campaign, the FEU Tamaraws came charging out the gate in Season 81, demolishing University of the East, 4-1 on opening day. Led by prized rookie Gio Pabualan, the Tamaraws set their sights on a second consecutive win.
Standing in FEU's way however will be an Ateneo de Manila squad that's looking to bounce back after dropping their season opener, 0-1 to UE last Thursday. Star striker Jarvey Gayoso hopes to finally get into his groove as he tries to steer the Blue Eagles away from back-to-back defeats.
FEU and Ateneo clash at 9:00 AM.
Riding their best-ever start to the season, the Adamson Soaring Falcons are undefeated in their first two contests, holding both NU and UST to a pair of 1-1 draws. Now, the newly-energized Falcons look to earn their first win of the season when they take on the De La Salle Green Archers.
Opening day did not go well for the new-look Green Archers, who succumbed to UST, 1-3 in their season debut. The Taft-based squad will look to bounce back when they take on the motivated Soaring Falcons.
Adamson and DLSU square off at 1:00 PM.
