Adamson University has yet to break through in the UAAP Season 81 Women’s Volleyball Tournament.
Even during the match against De La Salle University, head coach Air Padda made that clear to the Lady Falcons who were getting too caught up in their emotions.
In the middle of the second set, open hitter Bern Flora nailed down a kill past Lady Spiker Des Cheng – and with that, the former gave a staredown to the latter.
Not long after, the two were warned by the referee and, in the ensuing timeout, coach Air told Flora and company to keep their focus. “You care more about the crowd, you care more about taunting and stuff than playing volleyball. We don't train on how to taunt and swag and stuff. I train you to play volleyball.” she said in the huddle.
She then continued, reminding her girls that even with their point, they were still down, “You're not focused right now. Look at the score, 11-17. You haven't accomplished anything. Stay focused. No more taunting, no more, I mean it.”
From there, Adamson settled down, but still ultimately succumbed to De La Salle University in straight sets.
In the end, Flora only acknowledged that coach Air was right. “Alam ko naman na mali yun, na hindi niya kami tinuruan nang ganun. Dun ko lang nakukuha yung confidence ko, pero alam ko naman na mali,” she told reporters post-game.
