UAAP: Flora on Coach Air's scolding: 'Gumuho yung mundo ko'
Bern Flora will do nothing but continue putting up a fight for Adamson.

Bern Flora was the lone bright spot as Adamson University remained winless after two tries in the UAAP Season 81 Women’s Volleyball Tournament.

With nine points, Flora was the top scorer alongside Joy Dacoron. It was only the former, however, that kept coming all throughout the match.

In particular, the open hitter didn’t back down from De La Salle University skipper Des Cheng in the middle of the second set.

After Cheng scored a point, Flora answered right back and the latter gave a staredown to the former.

Not long after, the two were warned by the referee and the Lady Falcon was reminded by head coach Air Padda to keep her emotions in check. “You care more about the crowd, you care more about taunting and stuff than playing volleyball. We don't train on how to taunt and swag and stuff. I train you to play volleyball,” the mentor told her ward during the huddle.

She then continued, reminding her girls that even with their point, they were still down, “You're not focused right now. Look at the score, 11-17. You haven't accomplished anything. Stay focused. No more taunting, no more, I mean it.”

Explaining her actions afterward, Flora said she had to do what she had to do to fire herself up. “Gusto ko rin manalo kasi ayokong mabaon kami sa score. Kailangan ko lang ma-boost yung sarili ko para umangat ako,” she said.

With what Coach Air told them, however, the spiker could only acknowledge that she got a rude awakening. Asked about that timeout, she answered, “Parang gumuho yung mundo ko nun.”

She then continued, “Para kasing na-boost ko na yung energy ko tapos ganun bigla. Alam ko naman na mali yun, na hindi niya kami tinuruan nang ganun. Dun ko lang nakukuha yung confidence ko, pero alam ko naman na mali.”

And so, Flora learned her lesson.

And next time, she’ll make sure to do better. Asked if she’ll keep doing what she did, she answered, “Siguro, pero nakatalikod na talaga (ako). Promise na talaga yun.”
