UAAP 81: Belief and teamwork carry Lady Eagles to big win
Talking about developing character in their previous outing, it’s the teamwork that shined Sunday for the Lady Eagles. Things are slowly coming together now for Ateneo.

Ateneo de Manila Universoty’s start Sunday against Far Eastern University was really bad. It was abysmal.

That’s just a fact.

The Lady Tamaraws had their way against the Lady Eagles in the first two sets, scoring a pair of dominating wins for a commanding 2-0 lead in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament.

Fortunately for Ateneo, no team wins in the UAAP at just 2-0.

Waking up just in time, the Lady Eagles grinded out a five-set victory over the Lady Tamaraws, hanging tough late and coming through with superior composure to pick up their first winning streak of the season.

“We really had a bad start, walang excuse. Wala kami magawa,” middle blocker Maddie Madayag said.

“I guess what I kept on reminding my teammates was teamwork lang. Kasi yung nakita niyo third, fourth, fifth set, pag may isang nagkamali, may mag-step up for the other person. May bubuhat sayo pag nahulog ka,” she added.

Three games into the season, Ateneo is up to 2-1 with back-to-back strong wins.

Talking about developing character in their previous outing, it’s the teamwork that shined Sunday for the Lady Eagles. Things are slowly coming together now for Ateneo.

“That’s what really got us through that fifth set,” wing spiker Kat Tolentino said

“It wasn’t anymore our skills, it was having confidence in Him and that He’ll take us to the end. With the third and fourth set, that was teamwork. Our teammates were there for each other and we really worked well together,” she added.
