Here are 8 things you might not know about Jolina Dela Cruz!
As we move along in this exciting season, know eight things about the dazzling rookie!

DLSU Lady Spikers rookie Jolina Dela Cruz has caught the eyes of many as she averaged 10.5 points per game in her first two outings in the UAAP Season 81 women's volleyball tourney.

Even if it's still early, she has already drawn comparisons to a former Lady Spiker due to her veteran-like approach to the game.

As we move along in this exciting season, know eight things about the dazzling rookie!

1. She was not named after Jolina Magdangal.

Being born at the tailend of the 1990s, Jolina Magdangal was nearing the height of her popularity as a matinee idol for the growing millennials.

Journalists covering the volleyball beat were also curious if she did get her name from Jolens, but was quick to dispel it.

"Hindi po," she told reporters.

2. She's into her 10th year playing volleyball.

The 19-year old AB-Sports Studies major bared that she had first played the sport as a 9-year old before taking her talents to Academia de San Lorenzo Dema-ala in Bulacan.

Her decade-long experience in volleyball has certainly helped her to become what she is now.

3. She is being touted as the next Ara Galang.

After dropping 11 points in her debut against archrivals Ateneo, Dela Cruz got the attention of former players themselves.

Ex-Lady Eagle Fille Cainglet-Cayetano has already claimed that if her upside continues to improve, Dela Cruz could be on her way to becoming the next Ara Galang for Coach Ramil de Jesus.

4. Coach Ramil believes she really is on her way to stardom.

After a splendid debut for her collegiate career, mentor Ramil de Jesus expressed his optimism towards his rising star.

Following her performance against Ateneo, de Jesus says that the opposite hitter is just 60-percent of her full potential.

“Well, as rookie siguro nasa 60% ang galaw kanina. Expected ko na ‘yun kasi bago sa kanya ang lahat ng nangyayari. And siguro ‘yung dami ng crowd, tapos ang ingay ng crowd,” said De Jesus.

5. She likes the sour taste of dairy.

Dela Cruz claims that she is an avid fan of yogurt and Yakult, a popular probiotic milk beverage.

Bottoms up!

6. Her favorite players also wore green.

The rookie definitely chose the right school after revealing that she is an admirer of legends Manilla Santos and you guessed it, Galang.

Wearing jersey number 8, which Galang also wore during her stint with La Salle, may be the signal that DLSU will be seeing the next iteration of the former Lady Spiker.

Santos and Galang of course were very successful in their stints in Taft, delivering the bulk of Coach Ramil's 11 titles for the Green and White.

7. Her favorite singer is Ne-Yo.

Dela Cruz bared that she likes to jive to the tune of the American R&B singer-songwriter, who has brought the world such catchy tunes as Miss Independent, Go on Girl, Because of You, and Mad.

Sampol naman diyan!

8. She collects jackets and moisturizers.

As a hobby, Dela Cruz acquires various jackets and numerous lotions to her liking.

What brand does she like? Perhaps she can tell us some other time.
