UAAP 81 five-on-five king Ateneo and queen NU remain the standard in 3x3
Ateneo de Manila University and National University did nothing but live up to their billing as the top teams in the Men’s and Women’s Tournaments in UAAP Season 81 3x3 basketball.
The Blue Eagles cruised to convincing victories versus all three of their opponents just as the Lady Bulldogs sailed to rousing routs against all three of their foes inside the Ayala Malls Feliz in Pasig on Saturday.
The UAAP Men’s champions imposed their will on Adamson University, National University, and Far Eastern University for a 3-0 standing.
Their strongest showing was up against FEU which they downed, 13-8.
Thirdy Ravena and Ange Kouame scored seven and six points, respectively, as Ateneo continued to utilize a balanced attack in repulsing the Tamaraws.
Equally impressive were the UAAP Women’s champions who had their way against University of the East, De La Salle University, the University of the Philippines, Ateneo, and FEU to stay spotless in five games.
As it has been going on for five years now, the rest of the field just didn’t have an answer for former MVP Jack Danielle Animam, Monique Del Carmen, Rhena Itesi, and Ria Nabalan.
That was very much evident when NU destroyed the Lady Tamaraws, 12-3.
Congolese center Itesi muscled her way into seven points and, by her lonesome, manhandled all of FEU.
Still, the Lady Eagles (3-1) and the Lady Falcons (2-1) are giving their all to chase down the Lady Bulldogs.
Over at the Men’s side, the Fighting Maroons and the Green Archers, both 3-1, are breathing down the necks of Ateneo.
The action resumes in the second-ever UAAP 3x3 on Sunday still at the same venue.
