University of Sto. Tomas hitter Milena Alessandrini sustained a left knee injury late in the second set of the Tigresses' match against Far Eastern University Saturday in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament at Big Dome.
The Fil-Italian sophomore was stretchered out of the court after an awkward landing that saw her left knee buckle after a hit with the Tigresses ahead, 18-17, in the second frame.
Alessandrini, who also missed string of games last year after suffering a right shoulder injury, was in tears and grimacing in pain as medical personnel carried her off court.
Initial reports suspect an MCL injury. She was rushed to UST hospital to undergo an MRI.
Alessandrini is averaging 15.6 points per game in the season.
