UAAP Season 81: Alessandrini sustains partial ACL tear
Initial MRI results showed that Milena Alessandrini of University of Sto. Tomas suffered a left partial anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear.

University of Sto. Tomas hitter Milena Alessandrini sustained a left partial anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear according to an initial diagnosis Saturday night.

Head coach Kungfu Reyes updated reporters of the sophomore Fil-Italian’s condition after Alessandrini went down with a knee injury in the second set of the Tigresses’ 25-19, 20-25, 19-25, 25-27, loss to Far Eastern University in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament at the Big Dome.

Reyes added that they will have to wait until Monday to determine the specific extent of Alessandrini’s injury.

The 6-foot-2 hitter went down in pain after an awkward landing following a spike in the second set with UST holding an 18-17 lead. Alessandrini’s left knee buckled as she fell on the floor.

She was stretchered off the court and was rushed to UST hospital for an MRI.
