In the last five years in the UAAP, the NU Lady Bulldogs now have seven championships in total
Whether it be five-on-five or 3x3, National University is the standard in UAAP Women’s Basketball.
Jack Danielle Animam was an unstoppable force and Rhena Itesi was an immovable object as the Lady Bulldogs simply destroyed Adamson University, 21-3, in the Finals of the UAAP 81 3x3 Women’s Tournament on Sunday at the Ayala Malls Feliz in Pasig
Animam, a former five-on-five MVP, pounded in eight points and 11 rebounds while Congolese center Itesi pumped in six markers and 13 boards of her own.
Behind those two, NU muscled its way to a 19-2 start to the game. They didn’t give the Lady Falcons any chance whatsoever as they eventually ended with an 18-point win.
Ria Nabalan also added six points in her last game for the blue and gold. “Malungkot na masaya ako. Malungkot dahil ito na yung last time na makakasama ko sila at masaya na nanalo pa rin kami rito kahit papano,” she told reporters afterward.
This is the second straight championship in the 3x3 for the Lady Bulldogs. Those trophies add to the five-peat they had claimed in the five-on-five last year.
“Iniisip lang namin na nire-represent namin ang NU,” Nabalan said. “Pagsuot namin ito, talagang kailangan naming ibigay ang lahat.”
More impressively, their dynasty is unquestionable as they are undefeated in two years in the 3x3 and five years in the five-on-five.
NU 21 – Animam 8, Itesi 6, Nabalan 6, Del Carmen 1
ADAMSON 3 – Prado 3, Bilbao 0, Dampios 0, Araja 0
