UAAP Season 81: Ateneo rediscovers winning ways
Ateneo de Manila University bounced back mightily from a two-game slump with an emphatic sweep of University of the East.

Ateneo de Manila University arrested a two-game slide with a quick work of University of the East, 25-22, 25-19, 25-11, Sunday in the UAAP Season 81 men's volleyball tournament at the Big Dome.

Tony Koyfman led the way for the Blue Eagles with 13 points while Chumason Njigha and Ron Medalla posted nine markers each to hand Ateneo its second win in four outings tied with University of Sto. Tomas.

The Blue Eagles, who came off back-to-back 5-set losses to UST and unbeaten Far Eastern University, dominated the Red Warriors in all scoring departments with Ateneo smashing 40 kills compared to UE's 25. The Katipunan-based squad lorded it over in kill blocks (9-2) and in the service game (4-1) to highlight its dominating 72-minute victory.

Gian Glorioso and John Rivera combined for 15 points while Lawrence Magadia tallied 27 excellent sets for the Blue Eagles.

The Red Warriors dropped its third straight match for a 1-3 slate tied with De La Salle University.

Noel Alba and Clifford Inoferio scored six points each for the Red Warriors.
