University of Sto. Tomas hitter Milena Alessandrini will be out for at least two weeks after sustaining a partial anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in the left knee.
According to the final diagnosis relayed by UST assistant coach Ian Fernandez to reporters Monday, Alessandrini suffered a partial tear ACL, grade 3 sprain of MCL (medial collateral ligament) and LCL (lateral collateral ligament).
Two weeks of rehab was advised. If stable she'll be able to continue playing with knee support, if not, she'll need to undergo an operation.
The school’s Varsitarian Sports tweeted about the development Monday morning.

The 6-foot-2 sophomore Fil-Italian went down with a knee injury in the second set of the Tigresses’ 25-19, 20-25, 19-25, 25-27, loss to Far Eastern University in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament at the Big Dome on Saturday.
Alessandrini’s left knee buckled after an awkward landing following a spike in the second set with UST holding an 18-17 lead. She was in tears and grimacing in pain as she was stretchered off the court before being rushed to UST hospital for an MRI.
Alessandrini, who also missed a string of games after suffering a shoulder injury in her debut season, will miss the rest of the Tigresses’ first round games against three-time defending champion De La Salle University (Wednesday), National University (March 9) and University of the East (March 17).
UST currently holds a 2-2 win-loss record tied with Far Eastern University.
