Lycha Ebon just was not letting down her FEU coaches and 'ates'
Without a doubt, Far Eastern University has a super rookie in its hands in the UAAP 81 Women’s Volleyball Tournament.
In just her fifth game in the big league and under the bright lights, Lycha Ebon had for herself a 20-point game, totaling 21 points built on 17 attacks in their thrilling five-set triumph over University of the East on Wednesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
More than that, she delivered when it mattered most for the Lady Tamaraws, scoring their last two points. “Ang mindset ko po nun is tapusin na talaga. Pinaghirapan namin ‘to kaya dapat kunin na,” she said post-game.
Indeed, Ebon did not play like it was her first year in the UAAP, staying cool, calm, and collected in the face of the very game Lady Warriors. “Happy po ako na kahit (nadala) kami ng fifth set, ‘di ako nag-doubt. Naniwala ako na kaya namin at mananalo kami,” she said.
Of course, it only helped that the rest of FEU, from the 19-year-old’s teammates to their coaching staff, have nothing but full faith in her. “Sabi ko sa kanila, si Lycha papatay ng bola, bigay (natin) sa kanya. Kanya-kanya silang role sa team so tulungan lang nila yung kasama nila,” head coach George Pascua said.
And because of that, the Lady Tamaraws’ super rookie was not going to let her teammates and coaching staff down. “Sa akin po talaga, gusto ko makatulong kina ate at maipanalo ito para sa FEU,” she said.
