Three-time defending champion De La Salle University looks to rebound from its stinging loss.
Three-time defending champion De La Salle University and limping University of Sto. Tomas both hope to get back on the winning track when the two teams meet Wednesday in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Both coming off painful defeats in their previous outings, their 4:00 p.m. tussle that will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183, iWant and via livestream will be a test of their character.
The Lady Spikers saw their three-game winning streak snapped on Saturday after University of the Philippines scored a five-set upset.
DLSU, UP and the Lady Spikers’ opening day victim Ateneo de Manila University share the top spot with 3-1 win-loss cards.
Des Cheng, May Luna, who played with a swollen left cheek in their last outing, Aduke Ogunsanya and rookie Jolina Dela Cruz will lead the Taft-based squad.
The Tigresses will be playing without Fil-Italian Milena Alessandrini, who is out indefinitely because of a left knee injury.
UST lost Alessandrini, who is averaging almost 16 points per game, Saturday in a four-set defeat at the hands of Far Eastern University. The hitter sustained a partial anterior cruciate ligament tear and a grade 3 sprain on her MCL and LCL after an awkward landing in the second set.
The Tigresses are tied at fourth to fifth with FEU with 2-2 card.
Sisi Rondina and rookie Eya Laure will need all the help they can get from the rest of the UST squad to regain their winning ways.
