Win streak fuels FEU heading into Finals rematch vs. DLSU
Far Eastern University will try to ride the crest of its three-game winning streak to prevail over last year's Finals tormentor three-time defending champion De La Salle University.

Far Eastern University built a huge momentum heading into the rematch of last year’s championship series against three-time defending champion De La Salle University.

The Lady Tamaraws collected their third straight victory after outlasting Adamson University, 25-18, 17-25, 25-14, 22-25, 15-8, Saturday to improve their UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball record.

FEU, DLSU and University of Sto. Tomas are in a three-way tie at 4-2 slate. The Lady Tams and Lady Spikers will meet on Saturday at the close of their respective first round elimination round campaign.

“Siyempre motivated kami kasi last year nga nandoon na kami parang ilang games lang maaabot na namin ang goal namin so I think sa darating na game namin sa La Salle we’ll be more motivated kasi nga na-straight two games nga nila kami last season,” said veteran middle blocker Celine Domingo.

Last year, FEU barged into the Finals for the first time since after a decade and faced the then three-peat-seeking DLSU. The inexperienced Lady Tams fell victim to the Lady Spikers in two games.

Now with a chance for a payback, FEU head coach George Pascua wants his wards to want that game more than DLSU.

“Sa laban ano na lang yan, sa kills halos pare-pareho eh. So yung character na lang and then yung willingness ng bawat isa siguro ‘yun na lang ang magpapanalo kasi how many times na silang naglalaban,” he said.

‘”Yung desire mo na gustong manalo ‘yun ang magpapanalo,” Pascua added. “Sa women’s team kasi walang mahina lahat malalakas depende na lang sa character.”

Marching to her first match with the Lady Spikers, rookie Lycha Ebon, who is averaging 14.3 points per game, vowed to help her seniors get their revenge.

“Mas itatatak ko sa isipan ko na tulungan sila Ate para bumawi kasi di ba last year yun nga natalo? Kaya ngayon mas gugustuhin naming manalo,” said the freshman.
