BDL turned in her best game thus far in the UAAP 81
For the first time in the UAAP 81 Women's Volleyball Tournament, Bea de Leon has broken into double-digit scoring for Ateneo de Manila University.
Pumping in a season-high 14 points, the skipper helped propel the Lady Eagles to a character victory versus Adamson University on Wednesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
Post-game, even head coach Oliver Almadro had to breathe a sigh of relief following his middle blocker's best game of the season thus far. "Si Bea best player diba," he asked reporters who answered in the affirmative not long after.
"When he reminded me na 'I don't always need your points, but I need your voice', it gave me a lot of confidence."— ABS-CBN Sports (@abscbnsports) Marso 13, 2019

After giving de Leon a warm hug right then and there, the always amiable mentor then continued, "About time. I really admire Bea, all of my seniors actually, and I always tell her the points will come, darating yan so basta dapat patient lang."
Before her breakout, Ateneo's graduating captain's highest output was eight points against University of the East. Through five games, her scoring average was five points.
And this means that this game, she almost tripled her average.
Still, through her struggles, de Leon was nothing but thankful that her coaches and teammates still had full faith in her. "I'm most thankful siyempre kay coach kasi he always tells me, I don't need your points, I just need your voice. That gives me confidence na, at least, may tiwala pa rin sila sa akin," she shared.
She then continued, "Tapos my teammates also because without them talaga, I wouldn't be able to do this. Sobra-sobrang thankful ako for all of them for trusting me na kaya ko pa rin."
