UAAP Season 81: DLSU, FEU clash in Finals rematch
Three-time defending champion De La Salle University and Far Eastern University square off in a rematch of last season's Finals showdown.

Three-time defending champion De La Salle University and Far Eastern University collide in an explosive rematch of last year’s championship series Saturday in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Game time is at 4:00 p.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183, iWant and via livestream.

The Lady Spikers and Lady Tamaraws share the second to fourth spot with idle University of Sto. Tomas with 4-2 win-loss slates.

DLSU defeated FEU in two games last year to capture its third straight title but the Lady Spikers will take on the Lady Tamaraws this time without the heroes of Season 80 Kim Kianna Dy, former MVP Majoy Baron and prized libero Dawn Macandili.

DLSU is coming off a straight sets win over University of the East last week that snapped the Lady Spikers’ rare two-game losing skid. The Taft-based squad is looking to ride the crest of that win to hurdle an opponent that carries a three-game win streak.

“Focus talaga for that game. Everything that we do in training, everything that we do inside and outside the court focus talaga for that,” said DLSU veteran Tin Tiamzon, who stepped up the last time out to fill in the spot left by injured Des Cheng.

Cheng, who hurt her right shoulder two games back, is expected to make a return to help Tiamzon, Aduke Ogunsanya, May Luna and rookie Jolina Dela Cruz.

The Lady Tams, who lost Bernadeth Pons after graduating last year, will cling on their desire and heart to win to score a payback.

“Sa skills halos pare-pareho so character na lang and yung willingness ng bawat isa siguro na manalo yun ang magpapanalo,” said FEU coach George Pascua.

Rookie Lycha Ebon, Heather Guino-o, Celine Domingo and Jeanette Villareal will lead the charge of the Lady Tams.
