UAAP 81: BDL all praise for young Lady Bulldogs
After a worthy challenge, De Leon liked what she saw with NU.

Based on paper and on actual record, Saturday’s Ateneo-NU match in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament looked like a mismatch.

However, as UP found out the other day, underestimating the Lady Bulldogs could prove costly.

The Lady Maroons didn’s necessarily made that mistake. The Lady Eagles didn’t as well.

Still, it was an eye-opening experience as the young Lady Bulldogs made Ateneo work for its sixth straight win in Season 81, taking the opening set before pushing the Lady Eagles on the brink through four competitive sets.

“Rookies sila eh, so alam mo yun they’re very eager,” Ateneo captain Bea De Leon said.

“I remember my first, all I wanted to do was get the best shots, enjoy every moment. Yun yung kalaban mo dun eh, yung enthusiasm that they have for the game still,” she added.

After a worthy challenge, De Leon liked what she saw with NU.

The Ateneo captain says the Lady Bulldogs are going to be a problem moving forward, regardless of what their record shows.

NU is 2-5 to end the first round for those wondering.

“I really, really commend them,” BDL said.

“Talagang they showed us that despite being rookies, kaya nilang makipag-sabayan sa veterans, and all of the teams in the UAAP actually. That was tough,” she added.
