UAAP Season 81: Tamaraws complete first round sweep

Far Eastern University swept the UAAP Season 81 men's volleyball tournament first round of eliminations.
Far Eastern University gored De La Salle University, 25-21, 25-20, 25-18, to complete a sweep of the UAAP Season 81 men’s volleyball tournament first round of eliminations Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Tamaraws copped their seventh straight wins in as many outings after a dominant outing in the first round but head coach Rei Diaz reminded his boys that their work is far from over.
“Actually magsi-set nga kami ng meeting pa ngayon with our adviser kasi ayoko na maging relax ang bawat isa,” he said. “Kailangan wag namin tingnan ang 7-0.”
JP Bugaoan led FEU with 16 points built on 11 attacks, four kill blocks and an ace while Jude Gacia had 12 markers including back-to-back aces to seal the one-hour, 20-minute victory. Skipper Richard Solis finished with nine points while Peter Quiel had seven for the Tams.
FEU unleashed 41 kills behind Owen Suarez’s 27 excellent sets and received 22 points off the Green Spikers’ miscues.
DLSU fell to 2-5 mark.
Cris Dumago scored nine points, John Delos Reyes and Geraint Bacon got eight markers each while Billi Anima finished with seven for the Green Spikers.
