UAAP Season 81: Falcons end skid; Maroons remain winless

Adamson University stopped a three-game bleeding at the expense of winless University of the Philippines.
Adamson University arrested an alarming three-game skid by adding more woes to an already struggling University of the Philippines, 22-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-18, Sunday to end the first round of the UAAP Season 81 men’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The trio of Leo Miranda, Paolo Pablico and Mark Alvarez led the way for the Falcons to improve to 4-3 win-loss slate tied with Ateneo de Manila University at third to fourth.
Miranda scored 18 points with 16 coming off attacks and added 14 excellent receptions for Adamson, which frustrated the Fighting Maroons with 13 kill blocks. Pablico, who had five kill blocks, and Alvarez got 17 markers each for the Falcons.
Adamson pounded 53 kills behind the 36 excellent sets tallied by Lenard Amburgo.
The Falcons handed UP its seventh defeat in as many games.
John Millete had 20 points including 17 from attacks while Nicolo Consuelo and Gian San Pascual got 15 and nine markers, respectively, for the Fighting Maroons.
