UAAP Season 81: Tams gear up for tough rematch vs. Blue Eagles

Far Eastern University stakes its unbeaten record in a rematch with Ateneo de Manila University.
Still perfect Far Eastern University hopes to pick up from where it left of on Wednesday in an early acid test against Ateneo de Manila University to open the UAAP Season 81 men’s volleyball tournament second round at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Tamaraws stake their 7-0 win-loss mark when they march into battle at 10:00 a.m. following the clash between defending champion National University and Adamson University at 8:00 a.m. Both matches will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183, iWant and via livestream.
FEU went on a roll in the first round and another win will push the Tams closer to a Final Four berth.
But head coach Rei Diaz warns his team of a tougher road ahead in their quest for a semis seat.
“Perfect man ang standing mo pero marami pa kaming kulang. Unahin na namin siguro ang service receive namin. Ang dami pa naming kailangang i-improve,” he said.
FEU defeated the Blue Eagles in the first round needing to comeback late in the fifth set to eke out a 20-25, 25-22, 25-22, 20-25, 16-14 win.
Ateneo ended the first round with a 4-3 record tied with Adamson University at third to fourth spot.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs hunt for their seventh straight win after closing the first round with a 6-1 slate capped by a 25-19, 25-23, 25-16, drubbing of the Blue Eagles last Saturday in a rematch of Season 80 Finals.
Adamson is coming off a four-set win over winless University of the Philippines Sunday to end a three-game slide.
NU beat the Falcons, 25-22, 25-18, 25-16, in their first meeting.
