UAAP 81 Football: Rivals Ateneo, DLSU clash to close out R1
Ateneo and DLSU meet for the first time in the UAAP Season 81 Men's Football Tournament

1:00 PM - UP vs. Adamson (Men's)

3:00 PM - Ateneo vs. DLSU (Men's)

Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University take their rivalry to the football pitch as they meet in the final match of the first round of the UAAP Season 81 Men's Football Tournament, Thursday afternoon at the FEU Diliman Football Field in Quezon City.

After a forgettable start to the season, the Blue Eagles have turned a corner, winning their last three matches in dominant fashion, all with a margin of at least four goals. With a win, the Season 79 champions will finish the first round just two points behind league-leading Far Eastern University.

The Green Archers on the other hand, are currently on the outside of the top four, but at nine points, a win will easily vault them into the upper half of the standings. The Taft-based side is coming off a 2-1 loss to FEU, and are looking to avoid their first-string of back-to-back losses.

Ateneo and DLSU meet at 3:00 PM.

Before the rivalry takes over the pitch, defending champions University of the Philippines look to get another win streak going as they face Adamson University.

In their last outing, the Fighting Maroons were finally able to arrest a three-match winless skid after coming from behind to defeat University of the East, 2-1. At ten points this season, UP looks to end the first round on a high note.

With four points after six matches played, the Soaring Falcons are on track to have their best season since joining the men's tournament back in Season 77, but they're still in search of the elusive first win. A win over the defending champion not only gets them that first notch on the win column, but it also keeps them in the race for a spot in the playoffs.

UP and Adamson battle at 1:00 PM.
