Lady Tams survive scare to get back on the right track
Far Eastern University rediscovered its winning ways after surviving a five-set thriller over Adamson University.

ANTIPOLO CITY --- Far Eastern University survived Adamson University’s upset bid and a couple of injury scares to carve out a 30-32, 25-20, 23-25, 25-20, 15-13, win Sunday to get back on the winning track in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament at the Ynares Sports Center here.

The Lady Tamaraws paid a stiff price for their fifth win in eight games after losing Jeanette Villareal to a right ankle injury in the opening set and rookie Lycha Ebon, who hurt her right knee early in the deciding frame.

Jerrili Malabanan broke a 13-13 tie in the tight fifth set with a crosscourt hit before Celine Domingo took advantage of Adamson’s overreceive for the game-winning dink.

Ebon, who hurt her knee after putting FEU up 3-1 in the fifth set, finished with 19 points with 16 coming off attacks while Heather Guino-o got 14 markers. The Lady Tams broke an 11-11 fourth set with a telling run to take a 21-17 lead. FEU made a 3-1 scoring spurt to take a 24-18 advantage before Adamson saved two set points. Flora committed an attack error in the last play to force a decider.
