Kath Arado is bound to leave the UAAP without a win against FEU
Kath Arado is now playing her last stretch of games for the red and white in the UAAP 81 Women's Volleyball Tournament.
And for the libero, each and every match from here on out is a reminder of the five years she has given to University of the East.
That's exactly why at the end of their five-set heartbreaker at the hands of Far Eastern University, Saturday at MOA Arena, Arado seemed to be in tears. "Last game ko na 'to (kalaban) FEU so gusto ko talaga manalo. Kaya rin ako naging emotional," she said afterward.
She then continued, "Ako rin kasi yung last point, 'di ba? Nasa isip ko talaga, last ko na so bakit sa akin?"
The Lady Warriors' defensive specialist was talking about the last point of the game that saw Jerrili Malabanan hammer down a kill right through her.
And so, Arado and company had a 2-1 lead after three sets only to fall at the end of the fifth.
With that, the libero is bound to leave the UAAP without a win against the Lady Tamaraws.
In the end, she can only look back at this match as the one that got away. "Siyempre, as a team, kasalanan din namin lahat yun kasi binigay na sa amin. Siguro, sinasabi ni God na 'di niyo pa pwede kunin yung panalong 'to dahil 'di niyo pa ganun pinaghihirapan," she said.
Still, at 2-7, UE has a chance, however slim it may be, at advancing to the Final Four.
And in their four remaining assignments in the elimination round, Arado only vows to keep giving her all. "Every game dito, nararamdaman ko talaga na this is my last season so kailangan kong ibigay lahat sa team. Lahat kami, nagpapakahirap kaya kailangan ko talagang ibigay lahat ko," she said.
