Si Lycha will be re-evaluated after the Holy Week. For sure she will be out until the 21st of April, that's three weeks from today -- FEU athletic director Mark Molina on Lycha Ebon's injury update
Injured Far Eastern University rookie Lycha Ebon will be out for at least three weeks according to athletic director Mark Molina.
“Si Lycha will be re-evaluated after the Holy Week. For sure she will be out until the 21st of April, that's three weeks from today,” said Molina after the Lady Tamaraws survived a scary 25-15, 16-25, 12-25, 25-22, 17-15, win over University of the East Saturday in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament at the MOA Arena.
Ebon sustained a right knee injury after a bad landing in the fifth set of FEU’s five-set victory over Adamson University in Antipolo City. The Davaoena was stretchered off the court early in the deciding frame.
“Siguro Monday or Tuesday after Easter, she will be re-evaluated. We can't say now for sure kung anong mangyayari kay Lycha. We'll know at that time,” added Molina.
Ebon watched the Lady Tamaraws’ match against UE.
Molina refused to elaborate on the extent of Ebon’s injury pending further tests and final diagnosis.
“It's hard to say now. Even the doctor, it's Doctor Randy Molo who is a very well-known sports ortho-surgeon. He's hesitant to jump into a diagnosis at this stage, so he wants to test,” said Molina. “He has seen Lycha, he wants to test it after three weeks and then maybe to do another MRI.”
“I think hindi convincing yung first MRI because it was done immediately after the injury. It was done Sunday evening after the game in Ynares, so he wants to do it again. We're doing something now with Lycha, so we'll know at that time. We'll see if she can play again this year. By April 22 or 23, text niyo si Coach George. We'll update you for sure,” he added.
Ebon will also miss FEU’s games against Ateneo de Manila University on Wednesday, University of the Philippines (April 6), National University (April 10) and University of Sto. Tomas (April 14).
If Ebon returns, her possible comeback will be against three-time champion De La Salle University on April 28.
