UAAP Season 81: Tams secure at least a Final Four spot playoff

Far Eastern University secured at least a playoff for a Final Four berth after adding more woes to a skidding University of Sto. Tomas side.
Far Eastern University bounced back mightily to return in the win column at the expense of University of Sto. Tomas, 25-15, 26-28, 25-22, 25-14, Sunday in the UAAP Season 81 men’s volleyball tournament at the MOA Arena.
JP Bugaoan and Jude Garcia connived to add more woes to a skidding Tigers as the Tamaraws improved to 8-1 win-loss record at the second spot behind league-leading defending champion National University (9-1). FEU also secured at least a playoff for a Final Four berth while the Bulldogs were given a free ride back in the semifinals.
Bugaoan scored 18 points coming off 14 attacks, three kill blocks and an ace for FEU while Garcia pumped in 13 spikes in his 17-point outing. Richard Solis added 11 markers while setter Owen Suarez tallied 31 excellent sets to help the Tams fire 51 attack points.
UST, which committed 39 errors, fell to sixth spot with a 3-6 slate and absorbed its fourth straight defeat.
Joshua Umandal got 17 points while Jayvee Sumagaysay and Gem Corda scored 10 markers each in a lost cause.
Meanwhile, De La Salle University improved to 4-6 slate to climb to fifth spot after drubbing University of the East, 25-21, 25-22, 29-27.
Skipper Cris Dumago blasted 10 attacks for 12 points while John Delos Reyes registered 10 markers for Green Spikers.
The Red Warriors dropped to 2-8 slate. Clifford Inoferio had nine points to lead UE.
