UAAP: Buitre brings career-best just in time for Molde-less UP

Marian Buitre delivered the goods for UP in their first game without injured Isa Molde
With Isa Molde out due to an ankle injury, the University of the Philippines had to find another source of 12.8 points per game.
They got just that - and more - from Marian Buitre, Wednesday at Filoil Flying V Centre.
Scoring a career-high 19 points, the opposite hitter showed the Lady Maroons the way a bounce back win.
For Buitre herself, the game was just proof that she will be good to go anytime and every time head coach Godfrey Okumu calls on her.
"Lagi kong sinasabi na, as a senior, lagi akong nandyan if they need me. Hindi naman ako nawala e," she said.
Indeed, the graduating spiker has been a mainstay in State U's rise to contention in recent history.
This season, though, she has only posted per game counts of 1.9 points - and in particular, in the first six games, only totaled 17 points.
And yet, in just one game, she eclipsed that - and more. "It feels good to be back! This game is a morale booster me na dapat, magandang bwelo na to for the rest of the games to come," Buitre said.
Indeed, Buitre is nothing but upbeat that this career performance is just the beginning of what she can do for her remaining games in maroon and green. As she put it, "This game, I was trying so hard and parang naghahanap talaga ako ng momentum. Hopefully, from here, mas mahigitan ko pa performance ko."
Whatever happens, whether or not she builds on her career-high, she only promises to keep giving her all for UP.
"Ang mindset ko this season is every game is a championship game. There's really no time to slack off and I can turn any day into my day," she said.
