Surging Ateneo de Manila University will have a chance at payback against rivals De La Salle University when they meet in the second round of the UAAP Season 81 Men's Football Tournament, Thursday afternoon at the FEU Diliman Football Field in Quezon City.

The Blue Eagles lost their first round matchup against the Green Archers, 2-1.

Since then, Ateneo has recorded back-to-back wins, taking down previously-unbeaten Far Eastern University and Adamson University to eclipse the Tamaraws for the top spot in the standings.

DLSU meanwhile, has yet to taste victory in the second round, drawing University of Santo Tomas before falling to defending champions University of the Philippines.

Ateneo and DLSU battle at 3:30 PM.

Looking to get their groove back are the FEU Tamaraws, who ended the first round with the top seed but have since dropped two straight matches to fall down one spot to second. They take on National University who are still in play for the fourth seed.

Currently sitting at 15 points, the Tamaraws have yet to add any points to their total since the start of the second round, but a win will easily push them back up the standings. FEU and NU meet at 9:00 AM.

Still hoping to finally crack the semifinals are the University of the East Red Warriors who currently sit at last place. They try to improve their standing when they take on third-seeded University of Santo Tomas.

Last season's runners-up, the Growling Tigers are looking to protect their spot in the post-season, and are hoping to finally get a winning streak going after their most recent win over FEU.

UE, meanwhile, sits at the eighth spot with eight points, but are still very much in play for a spot in the post season. a couple of wins for the Red Warriors and they're right back in the race.
