University of the Philippines seeks to return in the win column despite missing the services of injured hitter Isa Molde.
All eyes will be on Marian Buitre when University of the Philippines takes on University of the East on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Lady Maroons march into battle without Isa Molde, who suffered an ankle sprain in their last outing, in the 2:00 p.m. encounter that will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183, iWant and via livestream.
UP sports a 5-4 win-loss record at fifth spot and is coming off a stinging straight sets loss to league-leading Ateneo de Manila University last Saturday.
The Lady Maroons also lost Molde early in the second set of the said match, tweaking her left ankle on a bad landing after avoiding stepping on libero Mirgie Bautista following a kill.
With Molde out, head coach Godfrey Okumu is looking at utilizing graduating Buitre as one of his wing spikers together with Tots Carlos and Justine Dorog.
“I believe she will do wonders. She's capable of doing wonders, she will give us a lot of strength that we've been waiting for,” said Okumu.
The Lady Maroons outlasted the Lady Warriors in five sets in their opening day meeting.
UE holds a 3-7 card and is coming off a sorry five-set loss to Far Eastern University last Saturday.
