Ateneo de Manila University tries to get back on the winning track and boost its bid for a Fina Four seat.
With the elimination round entering the closing stretch, Adamson University and Ateneo de Manila University will try to boost their respective Final Four bids on Saturday in the UAAP Season 81 men’s volleyball tournament at the Big Dome.
The Falcons step into the court first to battle University of Sto. Tomas at 8:00 a.m. before the Blue Eagles’ 10:00 a.m. clash with the also-ran University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons.
The Ateneo-UST match will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183 and iWant while both matches are available via livestream.
Ateneo and Adamson are tied at third to fourth with 6-4 win-loss records behind semis-bound defending champion National University (9-1) and Far Eastern University (8-2).
The Blue Eagles are coming off a sorry five-set loss to the Bulldogs in a rematch of last year’s Finals a week ago. Ateneo defeated UP, 25-18, 23-25, 25-22, 25-13, in the first round.
The Fighting Maroons hold a 1-9 slate and is reeling from a two-game slide.
Meanwhile, the Falcons are fresh from a morale-boosting five-set win over the Tamaraws last Wednesday. Adamson is looking to ride the crest of its momentum to make a repeat of its 33-31, 23-25, 16-25, 25-15, 16-14, win over the Tigers in the first round.
UST sports a 4-6 slate tied with De La Salle University and is coming off a four-set win over the Maroons to end a three-game slide.
