UAAP Season 81: Ateneo, Adamson out to close semis race
Ateneo de Manila University sets its sights on punching a Final Four ticket.

Ateneo de Manila University and Adamson University hunt for the last two Final Four seats on Wednesday against separate foes in the UAAP Season 81 men’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Blue Eagles and Falcons both carry 7-4 win-loss records at third to fourth behind semis-bound teams defending champion National University (10-1) and Far Eastern University (9-2).

Adamson will try its luck first at 8:00 a.m. against also-ran University of the East while Ateneo marches into battle at 10:00 a.m. to face a desperate University of Sto. Tomas side. Both games will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183, iWant and via livestream.

The Falcons are coming off a five-set win over the Tigers and are looking for a repeat against the Red Warriors, who are on a four-game slide.

UE sports a 2-9 slate.

The Blue Eagles are fresh from a four-set conquest of University of the Philippines but are sure to face tough resistance from UST, which is on the brink of missing the semis cut.

The Tigers are in fifth to sixth spot with 4-7 card tied with De La Salle University. Another loss or Ateneo and Adamson reaching eight wins will formally boot UST out of the semis race.
